Cooberry - A Daily Storytelling Site For Kids Of All Ages
This post is sponsored by Cooberry.
A few mornings a week, I babysit my adorable niece. What I love most about these few hours that we spend together is her wild imagination. In one morning, we can be princesses at a tea party, mommies to doll babies or zoo animals roaming the house. It’s wild, fun and a little (okay, a lot) exhausting.
In between all this imaginative play, we bring out the puzzles + books, play educational games on the computer or watch her favorite cartoons on PBS. She gets to keep using her imagination and learn new things and I get a little break. It’s a win-win.
Being the cool + awesome aunt that I am, I’m always on the lookout for new websites I can share with my niece. One of my new favorites is Cooberry, a free storytelling website that provides 5 minutes of entertainment every day for kids ages 4 to 12.
Cooberry offers storytelling, ebooks, animations and fun facts all in one place which is convenient for those times we’re looking for something quick to watch or read and don’t want to get sucked into the Youtubes. And since content is added to the site every day, there’s always something new to check out.
By the way, if you’re wondering what Cooberry means, it’s the name of an actual fruit found on a hidden island in the Pacific Ocean. It’s called a cooberry because it “coos” into your ear “eat me, eat me” which I think is pretty much the coolest thing ever. I mean, it’s talking fruit!
So here’s what you’ll find on Cooberry:
ANIMATION: This is where you’ll find short 5 minute videos following the adventures of the cute Hoola bears who live on Cooberry Island. The videos are fun, educational and adorable!
STORYTELLING: Kids can have a story read to them one chapter at a time. This is the perfect option for when my niece wants “one more story” and I just don’t have it in me to read the same book for the 25th time that day.
EBOOK: In December, join JJ and his buddy Bernie as they embark on an adventure complete with knights, witches, and magical powers they never knew they had. If you just can’t wait till December, there’s a preview available that’s perfect for older kids who can read on their own.
PICTURE BOOK: This section will feature 70 picture books that will be available on iTunes in March 2015. The first book will be free!
WEEKEND: Here you’ll find the latest blog posts plus more information about Cooberry Island, the Hoola Bears and the Zodia ninja!
FUN FACTS: This is one of the favorite parts of Cooberry because it features questions like “Why are french fries called french fries?” and “What does Santa do the rest of the year?”. Who doesn’t love learning new fun facts like these?
My niece and I had a blast exploring Cooberry and can’t wait to see more as new content is rolled out. I know you and your little ones will love it just as much as we did!
