Hotel Murano Review (Tacoma, WA)
Recently I was invited to attend opening night of How To Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular at the Tacoma Dome. Since I had out-of-town visitors coming with me to the show, we decided to make it a true vacation (for them) and staycation (for me).
The Hotel Murano was able to make accomodations for us to have a King Suite w/adjoining double room for the night. In case you’re not familiar with Tacoma, this is the Hotel Murano. You can easily spot it from pretty much anywhere in downtown Tacoma.
Hotel Murano is one of the five boutique Provenance hotels that showcase the city’s local culture. It is also a Conde Nast Reader’s Choice Hotel. In the spirit of being a Tacoma Washington hotel, the Hotel Murano houses a collection of glass that stands up to the country’s finest.
If I had to use just one word to describe the Hotel Murano, I would have to chose the word “gorgeous”. I’d never stayed there before, but just from browsing at the pictures on their website, I knew we were in for a treat.
From the moment you walk through the doors of the Hotel Murano you are greeted with friendly smiles and breathtaking views & art. The hotel has a very modern feel to it and it shows in everything from the lobby to the smallest details in the rooms while still maintaining a warm and inviting vibe.
Since we visited in December, we had the chance to enjoy the beautifully decorated Christmas tree on display in the lobby. We got all checked in and were given everything we need, including suggestions on things to see and do in Tacoma the next day.
We had a hard time tearing ourselves away from oohing and ahhing everything in the lobby, but were eager to get to our rooms and relax. We headed up the elevator, room keys in hand, and before we knew it we were on the 17th floor.
So far we were completely impressed with everything we had seen, but nothing had prepared us for the awesomeness that we would find in our rooms.
The King Suite was amazing. It had a large bedroom with a King sized bed that was made up so beautifully and so soft that you thought you’d died and gone to heaven. I absolutely loved the red lamps too!
The bedroom had many other amenities such as a a private bath…
complete with soft robes hanging up behind the door.
There was also a large screen TV for watching TV while laying in bed. The view from this room was gorgeous, especially at night.
I could’ve stayed in the bedroom and been completely happy, but there was so much more to see. Outside this room there was a long hallway with framed art decorating the walls.
Next we found the 2nd bathroom located in the King Suite. It was just as beautiful as the one in the bedroom. And we were incredibly grateful to have an extra bathroom since there were 5 of us getting ready the next morning.
At the end of the hallway, we found a spacious living room with couches, chairs, table, large screen TV & DVD player, microwave, fridge, coffee pot and more. The views from the living room were breathtaking and we spent a lot of time just gazing out at the city.
Since we had booked adjoining rooms, we also had a double room located right next door. The first thing you noticed in the room was how comfortable the beds looked.
Although we were all pretty tired, we wanted to enjoy everything in our hotel rooms, so it didn’t take us long to get settled. Beto quickly claimed the couch and connected to the hotel’s Wi-fi.
And Brissia claimed one of the 3 TV’s that we had and kicked back on one of the beds to relax.
Their kids had fun exploring the rooms, watching TV, spreading their toys out and playing in the living room and later we all gathered in the living room for a late-night movie. It was the perfect way to end the day. When the movie ended, said goodnight to the city and headed to bed.
As you can imagine, the beds were amazingly soft and comfortable and piled with pillows. I love pillows and sleep with as many as I can get away with and the beds at the Hotel Murano did not disappoint.
I forgot to snap a picture of it, but they also had a pillow menu in the room where you could “order” the pillows you like - body pillows, etc. We didn’t use it, but I thought it was a really nice touch and shows how much importance they put on making your stay as comfortable as possible.
After a long night’s sleep, we woke up the next morning and lounged around. Everyone did their own thing for a while - either watching TV, having a light breakfast and I even set up my laptop and got some work done before it was time to get ready.
Check out time was at 11 that morning, so around 9:30 we finally started getting ready. Luckily, we had 3 bathrooms to share between the 5 of us. One thing about the bathrooms that I especially loved were the sinks. The modern design fit the decor of the room perfectly.
The hotel room had pretty much everything we needed. Since we were only staying one night, we didn’t end up using a lot of it, but it was nice to see that it was available if we needed it.
We loved staying at the Hotel Murano so much that we didn’t want to check out. We honestly enjoyed every minute of our stay and I can’t wait to get the chance to come back again.
Before we left, I snapped one final picture of Beto, Brissia, Danna and Edith who made the trip up from Oregon to Tacoma at the last minute to join me for a fun couple of days.
Whether you’re a local like me, or visiting Tacoma one day in the future, I highly recommend the Hotel Murano. You will love your stay and all that the hotel has to offer. My only regret is that we didn’t have a lot of time to explore all the art located in the hotel, but the little bit that we did see was absolutely beautiful.
Check out the Hotel Murano website for more information on booking a stay here. They have a variety of special offers - even for locals like me - that you are sure to find one that works for you.
Be sure to follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram to stay up-to-date on all the latest news and to see more photos.
I received a complimentary stay at the Hotel Murano for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
